March’s AfrocentricX Notable Woman of the Month

In AfrocenricX, Business, Career, Entrepreneurs, Notable Woman of the Month

1. Tell us your name and who you are.

Hello, my name is Kimberly M. Dobine, the owner of Posh and Popular

2. Tell us more about Posh and Popular

Posh + Popular is a digital platform where you can find a great mix of personal style, beauty, and lifestyle tips for any budget. It is where the classy and edgy collide. Recognized as a go-to-guide for the professional girl on the go, an addition to the Posh + Poplar brand is a YouTube series titled, Pink Kisses, where several life topics are discussed and highlighting female entrepreneurs is essential.

3. What birthed the idea of Posh and Popular?

It honestly all started as a hobby! I would always get calls and text messages from my friends about their outfits. People would come to me with questions about the latest fashion trends or the top beauty products, so I thought, why not just put all the things I love in one digital space to share with everyone, and that’s why Posh and Popular is what it is today!

4. What are three goals you have for 2017? and/or What do you have coming up in 2017?

To make this year’s Fashion and Beauty Summit bigger and better! Our attendees had such an incredible time and we want to continue to make our events informative and as fashion forward as possible!! I’d also like to introduce a product that my readers and supporters can have to take a little piece of Posh and Popular with them wherever they go! Stay tuned!

5. You are known for your fashion and style. Where do you like to shop? How do you put your pieces together?

I shop everywhere to be honest! For me fashion is a feeling. I dress how I feel that day! It’s my outward expression for my inner feeling! Whether I feel sexy, powerful, or sweet, I love for my sense of style to reflect my mood that day!! My favorite places to shop would have to be, BCBG,, and ZARA!

6. As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc., how has your involvement help to propel your career? What about your personal life?

It has helped me tremendously! Being a member of Delta Sigma Theta has helped me to be more assertive in all of my business related endeavors. Not only has it prepared me to be a savvy business woman, I am connected to so many phenomenal women that have supported me, encouraged me, and helped be the woman I am today. The confidence i have comes from knowing who i can be in this world. Becoming a member has been one best decisions I’ve ever made. Lasting sisterhood at its finest!

7. What advice would you like to give other women looking to create and grow their brand?

Just do it! Starting is the hardest part. Once you start, you’ll continue to grow along the way! Be authentic in your purpose, don’t focus on what other people are doing around you. Remember who you are and why you started. Nothing worth doing is going to come without sacrifice, so be prepared to sacrifice your time, finances, family time and energy. It will be worth it in the end, trust me! But, just do it!

8. One reason, of the many, you were chosen as the AfrocentricX Woman of the Month is your commitment to the advancement of your community. Why do you care so much about helping and inspiring women of color?

Because if we don’t inspire each other, who will? What’s the point of having a platform if you can’t help others? It is so important for women of color to see what is attainable, what is possible. I have a heart for women, and it’s so important for us to know we are enough and we can do anything we put our minds to. There are women of color that don’t always have a strong support system, so it was important to me to provide a space for women to come who had a passion for fashion and beauty to grow, create, and connect with other like-minded women! We are such magical beings and I want to continue to remind myself and sisters daily they can do anything they put their minds to!

9. What does it mean to you to be named the AfrocentricX Woman of the Month for March?

It is such an honor. I’m always humbled when anyone wants to honor me in anyway. I do what I do because I’m passionate about it; I’m never expecting anything from it. So I am extremely grateful and truly honored and humbled!

10. What is one last thing you’d like to share with our audience about Kimberly Dobine?

I’m just a regular girl with extraordinary vision, who wants to change the world one fashion forward step at a time!  I’m a Christian, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, and a niece, who loves people, fashion and beautiful things, relentlessly pursuing greatness, one day at a time!
