iWearGlam Glam Opening


It was a sunny Saturday in Detroit with a nice breeze of opportunity and ambition in the air. A city plagued by despair but finds a way to keep thriving with the hope of its residents. Nothing was new on this day. The hope of the Greater Metro Detroit was high. It was the day one of it’s residents saw their dreams come to fruition. It was the day LaToiya, aka Toi opened the doors to her very own location for iWearGlam. iWearGlam sells hair care products and hair extensions.

At the age of 23, Toi is accomplishing things many just dream of. She began by cutting the ribbon. It was more than just cutting a ribbon to unveil a new location. It was cutting the ribbon to unveil all of her hard-work, ambition and dreams manifested. Once inside, you can see great thought and effort went into the site. The colors were consistent, the decor was to par and it welcomed customers and supporters alike with its warm feel.

Surprisingly, Toi launched her company in March of 2014. In just over a year’s time, she was opening a location and proudly noted, it grossed $500,000 in 2014 alone. She attributes her getting out there and networking to it’s fast success. “You can’t be afraid to network. If you sale hair, get out there and tell people, I sale hair,” noted Toi. It was her networking that led to superstars like Rhianna, Rasheeda, Trina and Taraji wearing her hair noted Toi. Rasheeda was in attendance to show her support for the Glam Opening of iWearGlam. More recently, Nicki Minaj professed her fondness of iWearGlam hair extensions via Instagram.

The former nurse, shares her words of advice, “You can do anything if you stay focused and stick your mind to it.” She decided to step out on faith and says it’s not easy. The self-proclaimed hair-guru says, staying dedicated help her to get where she is today. She aspires to open more locations across the United States. Though, currently, local, her online sales have reached international markets including the United Kingdom.

Toi notes the high quality of her hair extensions and diversified hair care products make her different from other hair company’s. Rather online or in person, iWearGlam is here to cater to its customers. While many men and women want to start their own business and take that leap of faith, Toi shows us its possible. She says keep a strong support system around you and follow your dreams.
